Details
The temple was founded by another famous scholar in the Heian period and his 8th son became the first head monk of the temple. It underwent major renovations in 2002 and at that time a graceful painting of the Buddhist Pure Land was placed in the temple. The dynamic painting show dragons wrapped around the pillars of the temple. The temple structure was designed by world-class Japanese architect Ryosuke Yamamoto. As a result the temple building also has a recognizable modern feeling. Sanzen-in is famous for its beautiful garden and Autumn foliage.
