Details
Kibune Shrine is an ancient shrine that was established long before the city of Kyoto. There is a long route of stone stairs lit by bright vermillion Traditional Shinto style lanterns. There are many other attractions that are worth being apart of such as the Rain festival that is held every June. This festival is dedicated to the gods of water. It is believed that after sacred water and food are offered to the deity, they shake the branches of the sakaki tree which is commonly used in Shinto rituals to portray the act of shaking the water over the heavens and earth. You can also have many unique dining experiences for there are many authentic Japanese style restaurants lining the kibune river in the main village.
